Controversial online influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristian Tate have been detained in Romania on suspicion of human trafficking and rape.

The former kickboxer has landed in huge trouble as prosecutors said, according to the Reuters news agency that “The four suspects … appear to have created an organized crime group with the purpose of recruiting, housing and exploiting women by forcing them to create pornographic content meant to be seen on specialised websites for a cost.”

The Tate brothers were detained on Thursday for 24 hours along with a couple of other Romanian suspects after a raid took place in their properties in Bucharest, said the prosecutors from the anti-organised crime unit in a statement.

“Anti-organised crime prosecutors have notified the rights and liberties judge with the Bucharest Court with a proposal to remand the four suspects for 30 days,” the prosecutors said on Friday.”

Andrew Tate and his brother haven’t spoken out as yet but their lawyer confirmed that they were detained. According to the prosecutors, the two brothers were under criminal investigation since April 2022.

Tate rose to fame earlier this year for his sexist views. A few months later he has been handcuffed and taken by the police following the raid on his luxury villa.
