Patric Ewing Basketball Career

College Career

Patric Ewing played for Georgetown Hoyas in his freshman years, where he had his 1st encounter against the future superstar Michael Jordan in NCAA Finals’ 1982. It was the appearance of the first-ever final for the team and Patric had a major role in it. Georgetown lost the match to the final heroic shot by Michael Jordan, but the game was dubbed as one of the greatest in NCAA finals history.

Patric Ewing or big Pat as famously known was 1st pick of the 1985 draft. He was awarded a direct 10-year contract by New York Knicks, 1st time ever seen in NBA history that a rookie got such a lengthy contract. Even before the Pick Pat O’Brien, famous author, and NBA sportscaster had announced that New York will now have “Ewing era”.

New York had the best chance in playoffs in the 1994 season when they won the Eastern Conference by beating favorites Pacers and faced Houston Rockets in the finals. But another big man of the NBA Hakeem Olajuwon got better of Ewing in 7 game series.
