3 players Brendan Rodgers should as the Leicester City boss

As per a report by BBC, Brendan Rodgers has been appointed the new Leicester City boss.

The Foxes moved quickly for Rodgers after sacking Claude Puel following their 4-1 defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend. The Frenchman left the club 12th in the Premier League having lost five of their past six league games.

Now that Rodgers has gotten the job, he’ll become Leicester City’s third permanent manager since they sacked title-winning boss Claudio Ranieri in February 2017. The Northern Irishman was in charge of Celtic since 2016 and led the Hoops to two Scottish Premierships, three Scottish League Cups and two Scottish Cups.

That said, here are three players Rodgers should sign for Leicester City in the summer.

  1. Divock Origi (Liverpool)

Leicester City have an abundance of attacking talents in their squad but there is a lack of natural goal-scorers that can contribute with 15-20 goals a season.

Jamie Vardy is a genuine goal-getter but he is 32 and not becoming any younger. Kelechi Iheanacho hasn’t lived up to the expectations since joining from Manchester City while Shinji Okazaki is out of contract at the end of the season.

Divock Origi

There is a clear need of a striker to compete with the likes of Vardy and Iheanacho and Rodgers should raid his former club Liverpool for Divock Origi.

Origi has played just six Premier League games this season as he finds him behind the likes of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Daniel Sturridge. With the Belgian unlikely to get regular game time under Klopp, he could do himself a favour by exiting Anfield in the summer.

Leicester should try signing Origi as he could be turn out to be a brilliant long-term investment.

  1. Jean Michael Seri (Fulham)

It has been a season to forget so far for Fulham, with the Cottagers currently second from bottom in the Premier League with 11 games to go.

Relegation from the Premier League could see a lot of star names depart from Craven Cottage in the summer and one of them could be Jean Michael Seri, who became Fulham’s record transfer signing before the season’s start.

Seri started the season very well but his form has tailed off, which has coincided with the team’s overall grim performances.

But there is no doubting the Ivorian’s quality as he can play in different roles across the midfield and provide a lot of energy and creativity to Leicester’s engine room if Rodgers manages to sign him ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.

  1. Kieran Tierney (Celtic)

Ben Chilwell has enjoyed a fine season with Leicester which has seen him already attract interest from Manchester City. Should Chilwell move to City in the summer, the Foxes will be left with just Christian Fuchs.

But with Fuchs out of contract in the summer, Rodgers could potentially face a burnout of options at left-back. Hence, it’s important for the club to spend on a new left-back and Rodgers should target Celtic star, Kieran Tierney.

Tierney is arguably considered the best full-back in the Scottish Premiership and at just 21, he has already played over 160 times for Celtic and won seven major honours.

All in all, Tierney could be a coup if Rodgers manages to lure him away from the Parkhead in the summer.
