The world no.1 steamrolled Griekspoor 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 to set up a clash against Kei Nishikori of Japan.
Prior to his match against the Dutchman, Djokovic beat Holger Rune of Denmar in four sets – 6-1, 6-7, 6-2, 6-1 to advance to the second round.
His opponent, Kei Nishikori, is coming off a dogfight against Mackenzie McDonald of the United States.
An epic five-setter saw Nishikori emerge victorious – 7-6, 6-3, 6-7, 2-6, 6-3 to set up a contest against Nole.
The Japanese had beaten Salvatore Caruso of Italy in the first round previously.
