Why Nottingham Forest should pursue their interest in Jack Clarke

According to a report by Nottingham Post, Nottingham Forest have been linked with a move to sign Jack Clarke. The Tottenham Hotspur starlet, who is currently serving a loan spell with Leeds United, has struggled to register enough game time at Elland Road.

Despite completing a big move to White Hart Lane earlier this year, Spurs chose to loan back to the West Yorkshire giants. Leeds have picked up right from where they left off last season and are primed to secure promotion to the Premier League once again.

However, as far as Clarke is concerned, he has been witnessing most of the action from the sidelines. While it is tough to become a first-team regular under a manager as gruelling as Marcelo Bielsa, it must also be noted that Tottenham recently underwent a managerial change.

Jose Mourinho has replaced Mauricio Pochettino at the helm of affairs at Tottenham and it remains to be seen if Clarke would even be a part of the Portuguese’s plans moving forward.

The 18-year-old is a winger by trade and although Tottenham need attacking reinforcements, his lack of top-flight experience could prove to be a massive hindrance. As things stand, the London-based outfit have been far from spectacular this season so far, currently placed a lowly 14th in the table.

Mourinho certainly has his work cut out for him as far as hauling the club back to contention for a top-four spot is concerned. And with all this in mind, the future does look bleak for a youngster like Clarke.

Considering his potential, the teenager needs regular game time to develop further and that is something he would have better chances of receiving in the Championship. Granted, his loan spell with Leeds has been rather forgettable so far but with Nottingham Forest interested in his services, it would be best for the winger to join them in the near future.

Sabri Lamouchi could do with an exciting youngster like Clarke at his disposal – particularly as a boost to their wide attacking unit.

As per a report by Sporting Life (h/t Nottingham Post), Tottenham are likely to recall Clarke from his ill-fated loan spell in January. And if that happens, Lamouchi must pounce on the opportunity to sign him for the rest of the term.

Thus, if all goes well, the talented Clarke would be better off moving to Nottingham Forest permanently.
