Watch: Mike Evans drops an easy touchdown pass as the Buccaneers’ offensive struggles continue against the Panthers

Tom Brady and Mike Evans led Tampa Bay Buccaneers were expected to one of the best offensive forces in the 2022-23 NFL Season. However, the reality has been very different to those expectations being associated with the spoken off team. Tampa Bay Bucs currently rank 16th in offensive DVOA, as the misery has just continued in Week 7.

With Carolina Panthers already missing their key units, Tampa Bay Buccaneers were deemed as the favorites to emerge victorious. But their offense failed to fire once again. To make matters worse, Mike Evans, who has one of the simplest catches in front of him, dropped an easy TouchDown pass by Tom Brady.

In the very first drive of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Brady delivered a wide-open TouchDown pass to Mike Evans, who missed a sitter. Brady’s best option wasn’t able to hold onto the ball, however, and the Buccanners wouldn’t come that close to a TouchDown again over the course of a 21-3 loss.

Mike Evans blames his sloppy drop as the biggest reason for loss in Week 7

“No one play is the sole reason you lose, but that was definitely the biggest reason,” Evans said, via Sara Walsh of NFL Media. “I saw the light go out of us. It took me a while to get back playing, your thoughts are just play the next play but it’s tough. Wide open, one of the best in the game, I’ve gotta catch that.”

This miss only goes onto show that nothing has gone as per Tamp Bay’s plan on the offensive end. While the team has not been able to build a steady lead in the divisional table, missed like these are bound to affect Mike Evans’ teammates even more.

Having lost their 4th game of the season, the Bucs need to take measures to improve to improve their offensive caliber. Otherwise, the road could very well turn in a direction Brady has never witnessed.
