Former NFL star Roger Brown’s death was announced on Friday
The Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams legend Roger Brown passed away this Friday. The news was reported by the Lions as they mentioned that the death was confirmed by Brown’s family member.
There has been no cause of death given as of yet by his family members. Shiela Ford Hamp, the owner of Detroit Lions in a statement said (h/t detroit lions):
“Roger’s career accomplishments solidify his legacy alongside some of the all-time greats of our game. I am happy we were able to induct Roger into the Pride of the Lions in 2018 to ensure that his contributions to the Lions will never be forgotten”
Brown was a six time Pro Bowler, two times first team All Pro and also a Virginia sports Hall of Famer. He played seven seasons with the Lions and also three seasons with the Rams. He was also a part of the Detroit Lions Ring of Honor 2018.
Brown was drafted by the Lions in 1960 in the Round 4 as their 42nd pick. He was an absolute force of defense during his time and a massive part of the NFL history.
Roger Brown the restauranteur
Brown was not only a legend in NFL but he was a great restauranteur also. After he retired from football he entered the restaurant business. He owned a chain of eight restaurants in and around the Chicago area.
Apart from opening his own restaurants Brown also owned three McDonald’s locations and several other Sports bars across the Virginia, Chicago and Williamsburg.
