Miami Dolphins GM rules out trade for QB DeShaun Watson

The Miami Dolphins will not be signing DeShaun Watson despite the rumours, GM Chris Grier said on Wednesday.

If you haven’t been living under a rock, you would know that DeShaun Watson’s future appears to be far away from his current franchise, the Houston Texans. However, it also appears that the Miami Dolphins don’t look like a possible future destination for the star quarterback.

The Dolphins were heavily linked with a trade for Watson, who has been reportedly unhappy at Houston for quite a while. Even the Texans aren’t keen on keeping Watson, who has made headlines for the wrong reasons on several occasions.

Watson still has four years left on his current contract. But it wouldn’t come as a shock if he moves away from the franchise anytime before his deal expires. Either way, the Dolphins are not keen on bringing the 26-year-old to Miami.

DeShaun Watson won’t join Dolphins, GM confirms

With the friction between DeShaun Watson and the Houston Texans only intensifying, several reports linked the QB with a trade to the Miami Dolphins.

Watson, who has 22 sexual assault or inappropriate behavior lawsuits, didn’t play a single game for the Texans last season. This was despite being available and attending training camps regularly.

The three-time Pro Bowler was then linked with the Dolphins throughout the year. But GM Chris Grier has denied any possibility of Watson joining the Miami outfit.

In a recent press conference, Grier explained that the Dolphins looked into Watson and have now ‘shut the door’ on any possible trade. More so, Grier revealed that the Dolphins will look to put faith in Tua Tagovailoa as their starting QB next season.

The door is shut on Deshaun. (Head coach) Mike (McDaniel) and his staff have put in a lot of work and studied a lot of (quarterback) Tua (Tagovailoa), and they feel good about his developmental upside and what he can be and how he fits in the offense. I think we’re good with Tua.” said Grier.
