Frank Reich, who was fired as head coach of the Indianapolis Colts just two months ago, is scheduled to interview for the position of head coach of the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers have scheduled an interview with Reich for their vacant head coaching position, according to NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero late Monday night.

Steve Wilks, fresh off an excellent performance as the Panthers’ interim head coach, will be interviewed on Tuesday. Following that, Carolina has a steady run of interviews with offensive coordinators, including the Lions’ Ben Johnson, the Bills’ Ken Dorsey, and the Eagles’ Shane Steichen. Pelissero elaborated.

Following prominent periods as an offensive coordinator with the Chargers from 2014-2015 and the Eagles from 2016-2017, the latter of which included a Super Bowl triumph, Reich was the Colts’ head coach from 2018 until an untimely conclusion this season.

Prior to this season’s 3-5-1 start, which resulted in his firing, Reich had led the Colts to three winning seasons and two playoff appearances. As a result, one persistent issue during Reich’s tenure in Indianapolis was identifying a franchise quarterback to succeed Andrew Luck. Carolina, too, has struggled to find a franchise quarterback since parting ways with Cam Newton.

Frank Reich has stated his desire to continue coaching, and the Panthers have offered him an interview in the hopes of making that happen.
