Even though the postseason has not yet begun, the rumor mill has already started its work, as seen by a report published this afternoon indicating that the Arizona Cardinals will attempt to deal with DeAndre Hopkins during the offseason.

According to a report by Jordan Schultz of The Score, Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill will discuss this strategy during the interview process with potential applicants for the general manager position.

Because Hopkins is protected by a comprehensive no-trade clause, not only will Bidwill have to persuade a potential general manager candidate to trade an All-Pro wide receiver during this offseason, but that general manager will also have to do so while Hopkins retains the right to have the final say on where he is traded.

The report by Schultz indicated that Hopkins would be seeking a new contract extension this offseason. This is likely the reason why the Cardinals will look to move on from the 30-year-old receiver, who is owed $34.36 million over the course of two years on his current deal. Hopkins has been with the Cardinals since the 2012 season.

Although there is still some time left until this becomes a real thing, it is still important to keep an eye on it in the background since we are confident that there will be a large number of teams that are interested in it, at least on some level.
