Chelsea Opinion: Blues must move for Luka Jovic in the summer

According to a recent report by The Sun, Eintracht Frankfurt’s highly-rated striker Luka Jovic has piqued the interest of Premier League giants Chelsea.

It has been suggested that the Blues are extremely keen on their man and have been long-time admirers of his quality and overall potential as a striker.

Real Madrid are another club who have been linked to a move for the Serbian but it has been reported that Jovic would prefer a move to England or Italy because he feels it would better suited to his style of play.

This claim comes as a massive boost for Chelsea, who have their eyes set on the Frankfurt wonderkid.

Chelsea’s striker troubles need no introduction and despite the presence of two top-quality forwards in Olivier Giroud and Gonzalo Higuain, their goalscoring woes seem to continue.

Whether or not Higuain will be a Chelsea player at the start of next season remains a massive doubt but what will come as relief for Chelsea fans is the expected return of Tammy Abraham and Michy Batshuayi from their respective loan spells.

Another important factor that could come into play regarding Chelsea’s summer transfer moves is the looming transfer ban which seems to be set in stone at this point.

Although no official announcement has been made by the club, the question of whether they’ll be able to bring in players to replace the ones that are headed out seems to be a million-dollar one.

If the ban is scrapped and Chelsea are allowed to play their hand in the market this summer, then a move for the man who gave them massive headaches during both legs of their Europa League semi-final is the way to go.

His overall play and movement have been nothing short of spectacular this season and the fact that he’s still only 21 is an added bonus to any suitors.

Luka Jovic

He has really come to the fore at Frankfurt this season and along with Sebastian Haller, he’s managed to rip many of the Bundesliga’s best teams to shreds.

Despite just making a switch from Benfica, his contributions in the league and in Europe have caught the eye of the some of the best in the world. He seems to have the maturity of a veteran striker when he’s given an opportunity and that is a rare quality at such a young age.

His numbers for Frankfurt this season only provide further insight into the genius of Jovic. From 32 Bundesliga appearances this campaign, the Serbian international scored 17 goals and notched up and impressive 6 assists.

These numbers should be enough to convince any team and the fact that he’s 21 means that the Blues staff will be able to mould him into the talismanic striker they’ve been waiting for since Didier Drogba.
