Release Date

After an incredible first season, fans of Cursed are eagerly awaiting its second outing on Netflix. Unfortunately, Netflix canceled it and will no longer bring it back; however, it could return at another time or be picked up by another network or streaming service.

Cursed is a new twist on the legend of King Arthur based on a novel written by Tom Wheeler and illustrated by Frank Miller, featuring 13 Reasons Why actress Katherine Langford as Nimue – a magical witch destined to become Lady of the Lake and wielder of Excalibur. Alongside Arthur (Devon Terrell), Nimue embarks on her journey towards fulfilling her mother’s dying wish and defeating King Uther’s Red Paladins sent by him to hunt down magic users and destroy Excalibur before she meets Arthur on her journey!

Cursed first premiered on Netflix in July 2020 and left viewers hoping for answers after its initial season ended with some shocking cliffhangers. Katherine Langford from 13 Reasons Why stars as Nimue, while Gustaf Skarsgard as Merlin, Lily Newmark as Pym, Matt Stokoe as Gawain, Emily Coates as Sister Iris, Shalom Brune-Franklin as Morgana, Daniel Sharman as Weeping Monk and Sebastian Armesto take turns portraying these roles respectively.

Cursed was one of the most talked-about shows on Netflix in 2020 due to its eye-catching visuals and riveting plot. The 10-episode season proved popular among viewers, leaving us on an unexpected cliffhanger at its conclusion that was left unresolved.

Synopsis

Cursed is an exciting fantasy series starring Katherine Langford from 13 Reasons Why as Nimue. Reinterpreting Arthurian legend, Cursed follows Nimue as she sets off on her quest to become Lady of the Lake. Cursed was created by Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler with distribution through Netflix.

Not much is known yet regarding season two of Cursed; if it does return however, fans can expect many of the same cast members including Katherine Langford, Devon Terrell, Gustaf Skarsgard and Daniel Sharman (Weeping Monk/Lancelot), Lily Newmark (Pym), Bella Dayne as Red Spear and Shalom Brune-Franklin as Igraine/ Morgana to reprise their roles from season one finale onwards. Unfortunately Peter Mullan no longer appears due to being killed off in season one finale of Cursed.

Cursed has left viewers with several unanswered questions at the conclusion of season one, including what will become of Fey, Red Paladins and King Uther Pendragon. Season 1 also introduced Lancelot as a protagonist – should Cursed return, it will likely place emphasis on making Lancelot an interesting three-dimensional character who offers more than cold blooded killing. Furthermore, Nimue and Arthur still need to work through their conflicted love triangle to resolve it successfully which could prove challenging given that both parties are mortal enemies!

Cast

Cursed season 2 would have chronicled Nimue’s journey to bring Excalibur back home. Unfortunately, Netflix has now decided not to renew the series and this cliffhanger may never be resolved. Katherine Langford played Nimue alongside Gustaf Skarsgard as Merlin, Devon Terrell as Arthur, Shalom Brune-Franklin as Morgana, Daniel Sharman as Weeping Monk and Katey Saunders as Lady Lunete with Polly Walker playing Sister Iris alongside Emily Coates as Sister Aisling Billy Jenkins playing Squirrel and Adaku Ononogbo playing Kaze.

Katherine Langford stars as Nimue in this reimagination of Arthurian legend, as seen through her eyes as Nimue on 13 Reasons Why. Nimue embarks on a mission to fulfill her mother’s dying wish by returning Excalibur sword of power to Merlin before being chased away from by religious fanatics known as Red Paladins led by King Uther and Arthur.

Its debut was July 17, 2020 to mixed reviews. When cancelled after just one season despite popular response and high production costs, however, many factors such as ratings issues and production costs contributed to its cancellation; nonetheless, Netflix’s early purchase of rights to this series as an indication of future success should give hope that it might still reach viewers.

Trailer

Cursed is a feminist take on the King Arthur legend as seen through Nimue, the future Lady of the Lake. Based on Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler’s illustrated novel of the same name, Cursed’s inaugural season proved immensely popular on Netflix and ended on some unanswered questions that may never be resolved (thus leaving room for another season of Cursed!). Though curbed won’t return soon enough for resolution, there still lies hope of Cursed Season 2.

Netflix’s first trailer for season two of “House of Cards” is both intriguing and tantalizing, giving fans a preview of what is to come. Set 18 months after Albert (Allan Mustafa), Tash (Emer Kenny), and Sidney (Steve Stamp) left prison, season one concluded on a dramatic airport escape, arrest, and murderous end; its second season begins 18 months later on sunny Costa Del Sol (now known as Costa del Crime) where Albert has invested his gold into creating his dream restaurant/hotel business while Sidney (now using Andy as his real name) runs a beach bar/cafe.

As of yet, no official word has been given as to when or if Cursed season 2 will air; however, production schedules have already been affected by the coronavirus pandemic and it remains uncertain how much longer Netflix can keep their ambitious original shows alive on air.

Conclusion

Cursed, the feminist reimagining of the King Arthur legend, left fans with a thrilling cliffhanger at the end of Season 1. However, despite its popularity, Netflix has decided not to renew the series, leaving the fate of Nimue and the unanswered questions hanging in the balance. Will there be a resolution in the future? Cursed Season 2 remains uncertain.
