Why did Giannis Antetokounmpo not play? Updates on Bucks star’s knee injury and comeback

All the fans of the NBA and Giannis Antetokounmpo must be wondering about why he did not play against the Wizards. Giannis Antetokounmpo did miss the Milwaukee Bucks’ 118-95 defeat to the Washington Wizards on Sunday night as a result of knee pain after two games with 40 or more points. Before the game, Antetokounmpo’s status was classified as doubtful on the injury report; however, knee pain forced him to withdraw minutes before tip-off.

The injury has most certainly been troubling him in recent games, but he is coming off two phenomenal performances in which he became the first player after Moses Malone in 1982 for scoring over 40 points and grabbing over 20 rebounds in back-to-back games.

When will Giannis Antetokounmpo be making a comeback?

Antetokounmpo has averaged 32.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game this season while scoring 53.3 % from the field and 25.3 percent from beyond the three-point arc. Giannis has been acting like Giannis this season, to keep things straightforward.

While Khris Middleton recovers from his injury, he has been holding down the fort and has been absolutely great. He was in first place on the MVP ladder last week, but this week’s surges have caused him to drop to fifth place.

The Bucks have already lost five of their previous six games following their defeat against the Wizards. They play the Wizards twice at home before playing three of their next four games away from home, including trips to Toronto and New York. George Hill, a point guard, also missed the game due to a non-COVID sickness, according to Budenholzer. Both point guard Jrue Holiday and big Khris Middleton (right knee) were earlier ruled out for Milwaukee (non-COVID illness).
