Bill Simmons is considered one of the best sports analyst, author, and podcaster. He delivered his opinion on who would be the All-Time starting 5 that could make everyone’s eyes pop out.
Bill is the founder and CEO of sports website, The Ringer. He runs a podcast named “The Bill Simmons Podcast” and in his show on 29th December he assembled his all-time starting 5. Bill was joined by J. Kyle Mann. His line-up consisted on LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, and Nikola Jokic.
“If you want to go with the passing upside, you go 2013 LeBron. That Miami Heat 27-game winning streak version. Putting him with Curry and these other three guys [Bird, Johnson and Jokic], I think that would make my brain explode the most,” said Bill Simmons in conversation with Kyle Mann.
He elaborated how these players would spread their dominance on court, “Curry is actually the fourth because all the stuff that makes Jokic fun to watch with Jamal Murray, Curry is the greatest ever version of Jamal Murray,”
Why did Bill Simmons put Steph Curry alongside Bird, Magic, and LeBron?
Bill Simmons had a decision to make between 2013 LeBron James and 1988 or 1992 Michael Jordan, “Putting that with all three of these guys, I don’t even know what that looks like. Curry could be just in the corner and like, ‘I’m over here, guys, if you need me.’”
He said the four except Curry have the best playmaking and basketball IQs in the history, “‘86 Bird, ‘87 Magic and 2022 Jokic. Out of anyone in NBA history, who would be the most fun two guys to put with those three.”
The main point of discussion which diverted Bill towards this decision was these player’ unselfish attitude. LeBron and Magic could guide Jokic and Bird into orchestrating buckets whereas Curry being Chef Curry would establish him as the three-point king.
