What viral tweet did Stephen Curry make about 2023 NBA Slam Dunk Contest winner Mac McClung?

On Sunday night, the annual NBA All-Star game took place at Utah’s Vivint Arena, where the league’s top players faced off against each other. The event marked a thrilling conclusion to an entertaining weekend, which included various other competitions like the NBA Skills Challenge, the NBA 3 Point Contest, and the NBA Slam Dunk Contest which were held on Saturday.

Though the popularity of the Slam Dunk Contest has gone down in recent years, four young NBA stars completed the 2023 edition to bring the contest back to its former glory. While Trey Murphy III, Kenyon Martin Jr, Jericho Sims and Mac McClung all participated to win the latest edition of the Slam Dunk Contest, it was McClung who came out on top in some style.

McClung, who recently signed a two-way contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, already had experience in a similar competition having competed at the high school level as he won the BallisLife All-America Game Slam Dunk Contest in 2018. Though the NBA is a different ball game, McClung put on a show that resulted in him being named as the Slam Dunk winner.

His performances saw praise heaped upon him by some of the biggest names in the NBA, one of which is none other than Stephen Curry.

What did Steph Curry have to say about Mac McClung?

The Golden State Warriors star reacted to McClung’s standout performance with a homage to the Philadelphia 76ers two-way guard via Twitter.

Writing on his official Twitter account, “Man was a viral HOH high school dunk phenom,” Steph Curry said of Mac McClung. “Still working his way to the League, but lemme go get that dunk contest trophy right quick and bring it back to life!!! Unreal #macmclung” McClung responded to the tweet with one of his own, where he acknowledged Curry by tweeting: “Appreciate you goat, the dream is the journey.”

McClung may have only played two career games in the NBA, but it does not take much to see that he has a promising career ahead.
