What happened between Kyrie Irving and Dillon Brooks, and how did Draymond Green react to the incident?
Dillon Brooks is quickly forming a reputation for himself as one of the most controversial players in the league. Over the past year, the Memphis Grizzlies guard-forward has barely gotten through a game these days without getting involved in a verbal altercation or two, and his behaviour has ensured that there is no shortage of enemies for the controversial guard. And as it turns out, one of them, in particular, is Draymond Green.
The Golden State Warriors star, who has recently had a back-and-forth with Brooks, couldn’t hold back his euphoria after witnessing Brooks experience the ignominy of a rejected jersey swap on Monday night after Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving passed on the opportunity to repay the Grizzlies wing’s gesture.
Not only has Brooks fired shots towards two pillars of the Warriors dynasty in Green and Klay Thompson, he has also called out Kyrie Irving, in essence telling the Mavs guard that he couldn’t wait to match up with him so he could hound him defensively. Irving then proceeded to clap back mid-game, sarcastically telling the Grizzlies wing to “keep playing that dumba** defense“.
Thus, it should come as no surprise to anyone that the Mavs guard refused to take Brooks’ jersey, even if Irving wouldn’t necessarily reveal the real reason behind his refusal.
What did Draymond Green have to say about the incident?
The incident which has since gone viral was certainly enjoyed by the Warriors forward who was left amused by the rejection.
