Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry, shot above 80% in 1st half against the Clippers

Stephen Curry was said to be struggling on the field. The prolific scorer was shooting around 40% since the last few games and looked a bit hurried into his shots but in the 1st half of the game against the Clippers, Steph seemed to have found his form as he managed to drain 9 buckets out of 11 attempts.

Steph started up with a floater for his 1st 2 points of the game. The “Baby faced assassin” then got into beast mode when he was getting more clear looks at the basket. Curry got hotter with a halfway mark into the 1st quarter as he scored 2 quick 3-pointers. He was 6-of-6 from the field till he missed a long-range shot just into the 9th min of the game.

Curry then closed out 1st quarter with 16 points and shooting well above 90%. Steph focusing more on the shooting continued with his perfect shot selection plays as he managed to score 2 more three-pointers with a 2 point shot in the second quarter.

Curry added 10 more points in the 2nd quarter and kept the team within reach at the end of the 1st half. Interestingly, for the guard position, Curry had 0 assists in 1st half of the game. His stats at the half were 26 points, 0 rebounds, 0 assists, 0 blocks, and 0 steals; 1st time since 2015.

Stephen Curry reacts to his 1st half show and the Clippers teams defense

Steph was obviously questioned about his mentality while shooting those consecutive shots and making them with ease (not really). The question was when does Steph understand that he is in “that” kind of (shooting) rhythm?

Curry replied, “I don’t know, I had 2 good floaters to start the game, kind of get the rhythm. Then I didn’t stop it, just stay. We were playing against the set defense for 6 straight minutes. Any NBA team, I don’t care that’s a lot more difficult to go against every possession. So kind of goes back to not getting any momentum at all.

Curry scored 26 in 1st half but managed just 7 points in the latter half of the game. Also, a great defensive display from the clippers caused problems to the high-flying Warriors team. 2nd placed Warriors lost huge ground on the Top seed Phoenix Suns. Curry and the team will face up against the Nuggets on 16th Feb.
