James Harden was amongst the headlines once again on social media, but this time it was for a negative cause as fans slated him for poor defending in a throwback clip against the Golden State Warriors.
The Philadelphia 76ers superstar’s name was dragged into the conversation after the official Twitter page of the Golden State Warriors posted a throwback clip of Shaun Livingston coming up with an incredible passage of play, one where he did Harden dirty.
The clip was from a game which featured the Golden State Warriors going up against the Houston Rockets and focused on the now retired Shaun Livingston going up against the Rockets’ James Harden in a one v one duel.
On being face to face with each other, Livingston dummied Harden, eased past him and left him trailing in his wake as he dunked the ball into the hoop and left the fan and a helpless Harden spellbound.
It was an incredible passage of play by Livingston but very natural of the man considering his exploits from the midrange.
While most replies to the tweet lauded the silky yet devastating nature of the move, many fans ripped into Harden for some of the weakest defending one will ever see in the NBA.
What did the fans have to say about Harden?
Fans on Twitter tore into Harden for his weak defending, some of whom were brutal.
While one man was ruthless enough to say: “Sick move, but degree of the difficulty multiplier was lower because of Harden”, another tweeted: “Harden had defensive lowlights to match his offensive highlights.”
Harden, who now plays for the Philadelphia 76ers is best known for his incredible attacking ability on the court, and has never been known as the most enthusiastic defender of a basketball – the clip merely confirmed what most NBA fans already know about Harden.
