Reports: Jacque Vaughn throws shade at Ben Simmons after injury update

Ben Simmons was once again forced out to be sidelined against the Detroit Pistons in the middle of the third quarter. Being a part of the game for only 20 minutes, Simmons did not return after experiencing knee soreness on Thursday Night. This wasn’t taken up well by Brooklyn Nets coach Jacque Vaughn.

Jacque didn’t outrightly call out Ben Simmons but told the Australian playmaker to toughen up.

“The goal is, in my eyes, is for everyone to play every game and to do what’s necessary to be prepared to play every game,” Vaughn said when asked about concern level on Ben Simmons. “There’s a certain amount of minutes that each individual played in Philly. Some played equally tonight, so the preparation that it takes going into that, you just have to give credit to the guys who were prepared to play, ready to play, did what was necessary to get their bodies ready to play.”

While Brooklyn Nets are without Kevin Durant as their main man has been ruled out due to an MCL sprain, this is just when Jacque Vaughn wanted Simmons to step up and lead his side alongside Kyrie Irving. Being on the second night of a back-to-back, the three-time All-Star gave up on giving his 100% even this time.

With Simmons, the Pistons registered just their 13th win of the 2022-23 season at the expense Brooklyn Nets. Having slipped to fourth, will we again witness the fall of this side without KD? Remains to be seen.
