Due to an odd circumstance, the Nuggets vs. Celtics game got delayed by 40 minutes

Nobody on the Celtics or the Nuggets likely anticipated that their delay in the game on Sunday would start attracting any notice. The C’s were shooting on a slanted rim, which caused the halt as Ball Arena technicians in Denver set to work right away to rectify the problem.

However, the roadblock continued to escalate. This went on for about 40 minutes. The game was called with 6:43 remaining in the fourth quarter even though the Nuggets led the Celtics by a comfortable margin throughout most of the game. The unbalanced rim was the result of a dunk by Robert Williams III, which the C’s called out, which started the chain of events.

Jayson Tatum also expressed his disdain saying, “It was weird…I don’t know exactly how long we waited, but nobody probably expected it to be that long. I mean, we got two-and-a-half, three minutes to warm up before we started. I don’t really know how to phrase it but it was kind of weird. It was just a weird situation.”

The delay raised fears about injuries as well. Jaylen Brown criticised the procedure as a whole, citing the chances of injuries as a result of the lack of communication. Despite some attempts to remain loose, the players got relaxed and happy during the delay.

Prior to the start of play, the officials gave the players some time to warm up, although it was minimal given the lengthy wait.

Tatum said that the thought of finishing the rest of Sunday’s game healthy did enter his mind. There was some balance there, though, since the C’s were still attempting to win a game. After Sunday’s defeat, the delay in the Nuggets vs Celtics game became a hot subject.
