Bob Rathbun, NBA announcer loses his consciousness during a live announcement 

Bob Rathbun, the NBA announcer loses consciousness and experienced a terrifying medical emergency. Rathbun began to shake and lose consciousness before Monday night’s game against the Thunder as colour commentator Dominique Wilkins was speaking.

The 68-year-old Rathbun was dehydrated, according to a statement from the Hawks to The Post, and is now “stable and responsive” while having more care. After what seemed to be a seizure, Rathbun appeared to have lost consciousness. Bally Sports Southeast later acknowledged the 68-year-old had had “dehydration” throughout the episode. After receiving medical care in a hospital, he was in a “stable” condition. 

While the issue appears to be under control, for the time being, it is still ongoing, and the Hawks community could use some good vibes right now. Bally Sports South’s Kelly Crull expressed her gratitude to the neighbourhood and advised people to keep Rathbun in their prayers.

The official statements recorded after the NBA announcer loses his consciousness 

“Prior to tonight’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, play-by-play announcer Bob Rathbun briefly lost consciousness on the court,” said the Bally Sports Southeast. It further added, “Emergency medical professionals on-site quickly treated Rathbun for dehydration. He is stable, responsive and heading to Emory Midtown for further evaluation.” 

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that while receiving medical attention on the court, Rathbun was awake and receptive. Rathbun, who has been employed with Bally Sports since 1996, was able to be replaced by announcer Lauren Jbara for the remaining portion of the match after he, the NBA announcer, loses his consciousness on air.

On Monday night, the Atlanta Hawks were defeated by the Oklahoma City Thunder, dropping the game 121-114. Rathbun has unquestionably benefitted the NBA, and now it’s the community’s chance to unify to his side and wish him a swift and safe recovery.
