The Dallas Mavericks emerged 114-105 winners over the Orlando Magic in their latest outing at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. It was a strong display of mettle as the Mavericks turned a first-quarter deficit around to win the next three quarters and the game – a performance strongly impacted by the Mavericks’ main man Luka Doncic who chipped in with 44 points.

Doncic was at his very best as he racked up 44 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists in the Mavericks’ win, while completing 17 out of his 26 field goals at a success rate of 65% in only 37 minutes on the floor. The Slovenian was head and shoulders above every one of his teammates and his opponents, as he carried his team to their third win of the season in a 3-3 start to the campaign.

Sunday night’s performance was not just an exception though, as Doncic has been in incredible form ever since the start of the season. In fact, in the six games played this season, Doncic has racked up 30+ point performances in every one of them – including two 40+ point performances in two games that has seen him as one of the best players in the competition this season.

While Doncic started his season with 35 points against Phoenix Suns, he followed it up with 32 and 37 points against Memphis Grizzlies and New Orleans Pelicans. Doncic scored 41 and 31 against the Brooklyn Nets and Oklahoma City Thunder as well, meaning that he is the highest scoring player in the league now – while also joining Michael Jordan on an elite list.

What list does Doncic join Michael Jordan on?

With his sixth consecutive 30+ point performance, Doncic has now joined Michael Jordan on the list of players with 30+ points in all of their first six games of a season.

A string of six 30+ point performances to start his season with the Dallas Mavericks has meant that Doncic has achieved a very unique feat in the history of the NBA.

In fact, the last player to score 30+ points in all of his first six games of a season was none another than the legendary Michael Jordan – who achieved this feat with the Chicago Bulls in the 1986-87 season.
