LeBron James was left unhappy with a call in the Super Bowl which made a telling difference when it came to the final result.
The most recent edition of the Super Bowl was held this past Sunday, as the Kansas City Chiefs went up against the Philadelphia Eagles. It was the Kansas City Chiefs who came out on top against the Philadelphia Eagles who put up a valiant fight at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale but could not make a telling difference as the Chiefs won the NFL title by 38-35.
However, the match which is treated as America’s biggest annual sporting spectacle and attracts stars and celebrities from all fields to be in attendance, had its fair share of controversy as well. Kansas City wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster drew a holding penalty from Philadelphia cornerback James Bradberry on an incomplete pass late in the fourth quarter of the game. The call was viewed by many as a bit ticky-tack and drew criticism from NFL fans towards the officials following the critical penalty.
While Smith-Schuster was convinced that the referee made the right call, not many agreed with the decision that was given on the pitch. While the Eagles took a 10-point lead into halftime, they were outscored 24–11 in the second half as Kansas City took the title home. This meant that the call had an impact on the final result and was one that disappointed many in attendance – particularly NBA legend LeBron James.
What did LeBron James have to say about the decision?
Just like so many personalities from different industries, it was no surprise to see LeBron James in attendance at the University of Phoenix Stadium on Sunday.
The NBA legend – who recently made sporting history by becoming the all-time record scorer in the NBA – was enjoying a day out at the Super Bowl LVI, but was disappointed by the decision given by the official. LeBron took to his Twitter account during the game to voice his opinion as he tweeted: “Sorry but I don’t like that call! Not for the Super Bowl man!”
However, it was too late to impact the final decision as the Chiefs took home their second NFL Championship in four years.
