LeBron James feeling apologetic about the team’s performance promises to be better in coming matches

Touted as one of the favourites for the Championship this season, LA Lakers have had an abysmal season so far. They are yet to confirm their place in the postseason, and current performances have not been so encouraging for the fans. LeBron James has seen what is happening around the LakerNation and apologized to the fans for a poor show thus far.

Los Angeles Lakers are one huge franchise in NBA, which demands a high standard on regular basis. Lakers’ fan base, generally known as LakerNation is accustomed to it and very reluctant to lower the standards bar. The transfers, signings, tradition, and big names attached with the Lakers, all point towards the excellence on-court.

But even after the addition of some big players and mega deals, the current roster has failed to deliver what was expected of them. The start of the 2022 year was like a fairy tale for the fans as the team was on a 4-game winning run but started losing back-to-back games again. They are now on a 3-game losing streak and 7th in the Western Conference with a 21-22 record.

Why is LeBron James apologetic?

It is not, particularly LeBron James who needs to be apologetic for the current situation. Rather he is the main reason who has been performing constantly for the team. But as leader of the group and influential player in the team, James has come forward and shared his feeling with the fans.

James is averaging nearly 29 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals per game this season. Anthony Davis is sidelined due to a knee injury, but he also had some huge on-court productions. He averages 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 blocks per game.

This could be a similar case when LeBron joined LA Lakers in 2018, and the team couldn’t make it to the playoffs. But since the mega trade of Anthony Davis, the LA team not only topped the conference but won their record 17th NBA Championship in 2020. James and coach declared in an award ceremony that “the Lakers got what they deserve (a championship).”

Though the team couldn’t repeat the magic in the very next season, the fans let the 2021 season go due to injuries to the main players. This season though the team added very experienced and proven stars, the result is not eye-pleasing for the team’s supporters.

Some critics and fans are singling out Russell Westbrook for the Lakers’ mediocre season, but it is the whole team (other than James-Davis pair) and defense particularly letting the team down in many games.

LeBron’s tweet received many replies in a short time. Many of them were supporting James for his gesture and even showing their support to him and the team in this adverse situation. Hopefully, we can see a better game-play and some wins for the Lakers, which will make fans proud.
