LeBron James gets vocal about Dennis Schroder’s clutch play against Grizzlies

LeBron James has seen the Los Angeles Lakers drop more than 10 nail-biting contests in the 2022-23 season. However, when the Purple and Gold locked horns against the in-form Memphis Grizzlies, it took some moment of inspiration from Dennis Schroder to help the LA Lakers break their losing streak at home.

Having lost to Dallas Mavericks in double OT, and then to the Philadelphia 76ers by just 1 point, the Lakers have got games close but have failed to show their clutch gene. So, now when they actually beat a team by taking the game deep, LeBron was quick to acknowledge the effort of Dennis Schroder.

For those who are not aware, let me remind you of the magic moment of the German International. Schroder stole the ball from sharpshooter Desmond Bane and made the layup at the other end, getting fouled in the process.

He sunk the free throw which meant that when Brandon Clarke missed one to tie the game up, the Lakers walked away from the win.

LeBron James applauds Dennis Schroder’s clutch ability

James said, “That’s what we drew up in the timeout. We said we were gonna go for the first trap, go for the steal.”

LeBron James obviously can’t carry them single-handedly anymore. But with Anthony Davis’ return now only a matter of time, the role players stepping up is a hugely positive sign for the team. Perhaps Schroder has only gone onto showcase how he can be trusted to help the team in crunch time.
