Kevin Durant took a hilarious dig at Damian Lillard as he claimed that the latter is not a defender after the Brooklyn Nets played off against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Brooklyn Nets defeated the Portland Trail Blazers in their latest meeting on Sunday night. The home side emerged victorious by 111-97 against the visitors at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, courtesy of an incredible performance by the talismanic Kevin Durant who continues his hot streak of form as he racked up a game-high 31 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.

Durant was inspirational as he carried the Nets to the next level and helped them return to winning ways with his game-high 31-point performance. The former Finals’ MVP made a whopping 12 out of his 20 attempted field goals at a success rate of 60%, and made a statement on the court about the incredible form with which he has started the season for the Nets.

Even though the Blazers had their main man Damian Lillard missing, it was a spirited performance by the visitors without their key player. However, it was not enough to keep Durant from lighting up the game with his offensive ability – and Durant spoke on the Blazers’ strengths after the game.

What did Kevin Durant have to say about the Trail Blazers and Dame Lillard?

Durant aimed a cheeky dig at Trail Blazers star Dame Lillard as he did not acknowledge him as a defender following the game.

Speaking to the press after the game, Durant was asked about how the Trail Blazers have retooled around Dame Lillard. Durant took the chance to shower praise on the Blazers’ offensive prowess as a team, but did not give credit to Lillard’s defense as he declined to call his USA teammate and friend a “defender.”

Look, I wouldn’t call Dame a defender. They got ample guys who can make a bucket, they got three 20-point scorers in the team. They always give you a good chance of winning a basketball game. The game is about offense, you gotta make shots, but they also got length and athleticism on the defense – but having three 20-point scorers is the reason why they’re good this year.”
