When will Kevin Durant return from his current injury lay-off?

Kevin Durant will have to wait to make his debut in front of his new home fans. After debuting for the Phoenix Suns on the road, KD was set to make his home debut against the Thunder on March 8 – however, those plans were derailed when the two-time Finals MVP was a late scratch due to an apparent injury suffered during a pregame workout.

The team announced he was out for the game just 18 minutes ahead of the game’s scheduled tip time. Ahead of tip-off on Thursday, March 8, the Suns announced that Durant was out with left ankle soreness. Coming into the day, Durant was not listed on Phoenix’s official injury report. He apparently suffered the injury during a pregame workout in which he made a misstep while attempting a layup.

According to Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic, Durant exited the Footprint Center in a walking boot. In three games with the Suns so far, Durant is averaging 26.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. Phoenix is 3-0 with Durant in the lineup. Therefore, it is no surprise that the Suns faithful will want KD back in the team as soon as possible.

When is Kevin Durant set to return from his injury?

There is no set date of return for Durant, however, it is feared that he may be out for the remainder of the regular season.

No timetable has been given for his ankle injury, but following his absence against Oklahoma City, Greg Moore of the Arizona Republic reported that “there is concern within the organization that Durant has a Grade 2 sprain,” which could keep him out for the remainder of the regular season as well as the beginning of the Play-offs.

More updates on Durant’s status will come as they are made available. Despite Durant’s unavailability, the Suns romped to a 132-101 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder to solidify their fourth spot in the Western Conference with a 37-29 record.
