John Collins of Atlanta Hawk was part of JJ Redick’s Podcast show “The old man and the three”. Collins recalls his alley-oop dunk over Embiid as the most meaningful 2-pointer for him.
NBA Star JJ Redick and Tommy Alter host an apple podcast “The old man and the three”. They will have John Collins as their guest for the episode on 23rd December 2021. Tommy asked John about his favorite in-game dunk.
John Collins upon recalling some moments replied it will be on Joel in the playoff game. Collins further explained ‘why he liked that particular dunk’, he said, “you know we were talking a lot, you know it was little built upon that one…”
He further pointed out the significance of the play for him as those probably are his most meaningful 2 points on anybody. And it’s playoff time, much harder. John said that the dunk is his most favorite one.
John Collins dunks and his favorite Dunk
John Collins plays for Atlanta Hawks as a power forward. He was the 19th pick for the Hawks in the 2017 NBA draft. He is very famous for his athleticism and has evolved as one of an important piece for the team. 6”10”, Utah-born big man is famous for his dunks and being closer to the rim, he has made a career out of it.
He was even a participant in the 2019 All-Star Slam Dunk Contest, which was won by Himadou Diallo of the Pistons. But everyone liked the presentation from John Collins – especially the Aviation one where he jumped over a small replica of a plane as an homage to the Wright brothers in North Carolina. Sadly the Judges gave 42 points for that dunk.
Talking about John’s favorite dunk, it was an alley-oop by Trae Young to Collins, which he collected over Philadelphia 76ers’ big man Joel Embiid and slammed it with one hand. The Hawks were trailing by 9 points in the 3rd quarter of the Eastern Conference semi-finals. Atlanta Hawks won the match and series against the 76ers.
The Dunk was so hyped that even some t-shirts were made and presented to Collins.
