Memphis Grizzlies star guard has delivered for the team again, extends franchise record of most consecutive wins

Memphis Grizzlies just made a huge mark in the Western Conference with season best winning streak of 10 games. 2020 rookie of the season winner, Ja Morant played a huge role in the franchise’s current form, but other Grizzlies have also contributed in a timely manner.

Golden State Warriors visited the Grizzlies, riding on lots of enthusiasm and energy after Klay Thompson’s return to the squad. But Memphis players took advantage of the Warriors’ mistakes and handed them a 116-108 defeat.

This extends the Grizzlies winning run to 10 games now – best in 2022 season. They also have now extended their franchise record of 9 wins (set earlier this season only) to 10. Previous best record was 8 games between Jan 2015 to Feb 2015.

Stephen Curry had a triple-double production (9th of the career) on night where other Warriors were struggling against the Grizzlies defense. Huge turnover count cost the game to the Warriors.  Curry scored 27 points with 10 assists and 10 rebounds in game.

Ja Morant had game high 29 points with 5 rebounds and 8 assists. While Jaren Jackson scored 13 points with 11 rebounds. Tyus Jones was surprise package from the Grizzlies as he was 5/5 from the three point line. He scored 17 points and making huge defensive plays for the team.

Is Ja Morant and Memphis Grizzlies a real deal this season?

More and more great games you play, more games you win, and it will put you in title contender list for sure. Grizzlies have just proved that they can be consistent enough and play great basketball  to challenge for the NBA championship. Ja Morant just won the second player of the week award, highlighting his impact on the game.

They have won 10 in a row and 20 in last 24 games which is quite an achievement even for a Champion team. Having already achieved those, Grizzlies must be confident for the postseason – which they have pretty much confirmed by now. This would end their 6 years wait for playoff appearance.

In Playoff scenarios, they will face the same nemesis in the Jazz, Suns and Warriors which could be a different ball game. Not many of current Memphis team have the experience of the postseason and it cold be good experience for them to fight in 7 game series. Nevertheless we cannot count Memphis out making deep run in this season’s playoffs.
