Stephen Curry visited the White House as the NBA champion
This Tuesday, Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors were at the White House. As the 2022 NBA Champions, they met President Joe Biden. The Warriors last went to the White House in 2016, while Barack Obama was still in office. The team declined to visit the White House during President Donald Trump’s administration despite winning two more championships and building a dynastic legacy.
However, the Warriors are returning to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue now that the new President is in office and they are the reigning champs.
Although the nation welcomed their team’s success, many fans on social media questioned why the Warriors had not been named after the Boston Celtics’ NBA Finals victory in June of last year. As a result, supporters also started to mock the POTUS.
Joe Biden fell prey to netizens’ trolling
The Golden State Warriors, the defending champions and the current Finals MVP, were invited to the White House on Tuesday afternoon. When they had previously visited, they had defeated LeBron James and the Cavaliers to win their ruler’s first title.
That visit took place, though, during Barack Obama’s fourth term as president. Curry and the Warriors turned down the invitations when Donald Trump became president, even though they now had two additional championships to their names. Today, with a different President in office, the two-time MVP and his team have returned to the White House.
Fans are perplexed as to why there was a delay of more than six months following their visit, though. In June of last year, the Warriors defeated the Celtics in a nail-biting six-game series to claim the NBA title for 2021–22. Therefore, many fans made jokes against President Joe Biden for the unjustified delay due to their political affiliations and other things influencing them.
