It was a good outing for the Greek national basketball team as they defeated Estonia in a 90-69 win in their Group C game in Milan, but the successful outing was stained by an injury to arguably their best player and their main man – the Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Giannis Antetokounmpo was having a great game and had already racked 25 points by the third quarter before he went off midway through the third quarter, limping courtesy of an ankle issue.

Antetokounmpo had racked up 25 points in 19 minutes, was 9 for 10 from the field, and in his four group-stage games, he averaged 29.5 points on 58% shooting in 26-1/2 minutes per game.

However, an ankle issue suffered midway through the third quarter meant that Giannis had to be taken off. Though it did look serious in the beginning, Giannis came onto the field after the game to take part in the post match celebrations, and also shook hands with the Estonian players and coaches.

Following the game, the Greek coach shared an important update about his injury.

What did the Greek coach have to share about Giannis’ injury?

The Greek coach Dimitrios Itoudis had a positive update to share about the Greek Freak, as he said that his injury is not as serious as they initially feared it.

Itoudis said Antetokounmpo got ice and treatment following the knock to his ankle midway through the game, but did not sound too worried about the key player for franchise and country. “It’s all good,” Itoudis said, as the Greek fans and the Milwaukee Bucks fans worldwide breathed a sigh of relief.

Antetokounmpo will probably return for Greece in their knockout stage games in the ongoing Euro basket tournament, as well as turnout for the Milwaukee franchise when the upcoming NBA season tips off in October.
