Giannis Antetokounmpo labels his Milwaukee Bucks as ‘complacent’ after loss to Kevin Durant led Brooklyn Nets

The Milwaukee Bucks have undoubtedly been the best team in the NBA until this point in the 2022-23 season. After a terrific 9-0 start, the 2021 NBA Champs did lose their shape a bit, but Giannis Antetokounmpo was in no mood to let them slip any further than the first two seeds in the Eastern Conference.

Perhaps that is just why when Milwaukee Bucks lost against the Brooklyn Nets to register their second consecutive loss, Giannis Antetokounmpo was not at all happy. The Greek Freak seems to be worried about his unit’s form as the showdown against the Nets was the 4th game (out of last 5) where they went into halftime trailing.

According to Athletic, Giannis revealed his true feeling on Milwaukee Bucks after their second consecutive loss, I think being complacent. We are being comfortable. We just expect to, I don’t know, (that) people are just going to hand us games. It doesn’t work that way. I think you have to go out there and kind of take it. You have to go out there and play good basketball, build good habits, defend and kind of, you know, compete.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s tough words on Milwaukee Bucks dropping games

While these words might be harsh, but Giannis Antetokounmpo only wants his teammates to realise where they are in the 2022-23 season. Given that the teams in the EC are quickly catching up as compared to a relatively slow-paced Western Conference, Giannis wants to give the Milwaukee Bucks a true wake-up call.

The 2021 NBA Finals MVP added, “You have to f**king go out there and take things, take things that we want. Nobody is going to give you games. Nobody is going to give you a championship. Nobody is going to give you a trophy.

“Nobody is going to give you credit for being good or how cool you are and how good you’ve been playing. You have to go out there and play basketball. Don’t talk about it, be about it, play about it.”
