Los Angeles Lakers coach Frank Vogel is on the brink of getting the sack after a series of disappointing losses.

LA Lakers head coach Frank Vogel is on the verge of being removed from his position after blowing another lead against the Atlanta Hawks, eventually losing 129-121.

The Lakers have struggled in the third quarter, following two disappointing losses against the Philadelphia 76ers and Charlotte Hornets. The team is without talisman LeBron James, who was sent back after a reported soreness on his knee.

The Lakers entered the 4th quarter with a 101-91 scoreline, but the Hawks outscored them 38-20 in the final quarter to win comfortably.

Anthony Davis returned to action after a layoff of his own and was not at his best. Malik Monk led the scoring with 33 points.
Lakers have struggled despite adding nine-time All-Star Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony to their roster.

Westbrook has turned out to be a huge disappointment rather than a solution for the team.

The absence of their star players due to injuries and even COVID-19 has worsened the blow for the LA Lakers, who are now below .500.

LeBron James, who is averaging 29.1 PPG has kept the Lakers in contention to reach the Playoffs. In his absence the team seems to be lacking direction. Vogel’s decision to not play Dwight Howard has also come under the radar. The team has been struggling with respect to defensive rebounds and blocks per game.

With Vogel delivering a NBA title in 2020, the expectations have rightly been raised. The team boasts some of the best NBA players in the history of the game. But, it seems that the gamble from Lakers GM Rob Pelinka has failed miserably. The Lakers could possibly be knocked out of the automatic playoff berth. They are currently 9th, which means that they will only be able to make the Play-in tournament if the regular season was to end today.
