Charles Barkley makes fun of claims that the Knicks are a good team

On Monday afternoon, the Knicks were defeated by the Toronto Raptors, 123-121, in overtime. Charles Barkley soon began to make a joke of Smith’s heated take. Charles Barkley isn’t quite persuaded that the Knicks are about to challenge for a championship.

Former NBA player Kenny Smith commented on the team on “Inside the NBA” after the game. The Knicks, in his opinion, are on the verge of being a serious contender. Kenny said, “They’re still about a fifth seed, fifth, sixth seed. They’re probably another piece away from trying to be an elite team.”

In response to Kenny, Charles also poked fun at the Knicks saying, “LeBron? The Knicks are a good, solid team. They play hard and that’s it.” RJ Barrett and Julius Randle made an attempt, but the Knicks were unable to defeat the determined Raptors squad that was eager to win. Barrett scored 32 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Randle finished with 21 points, 15 rebounds, and 8 assists.

New York Knicks’ current status and stand

With a 25-20 record, the Knicks are now sixth in the Eastern Conference. They stand a solid chance of making the playoffs. They may never have the benefit of playing on their home court, though. Players like Barrett must rise up and play larger offensive roles.

This season, there aren’t many hopes for the New York Knicks. In the offseason, they acquired Jalen Brunson to a hefty contract following a poor 2021–22 season. For their youthful core, reaching the playoffs would be a success.

Cam Reddish is one guy they are seeking to trade. The last first-round selection hasn’t competed since December 4. Only 20 games have been played by Reddish for the Knicks thus far this year. With a field goal percentage of 44.9% and a 3-point percentage of 30.4%, he averages 8.4 points, 1.6 rebounds, and one assist per game.
