Francis Tiafoe had an incredible tournament at the US Open this year as he racked up quite a few notable scalps to progress to the semifinal, but a loss awaited him as the American went down to Carlos Alcaraz.

The young American came of age at an incredible tournament as he took the scalp of a certain Rafael Nadal en route on the semifinal of the competition, however the number 22-seeded player went down in a valiant fight against Carlos Alcaraz at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Tiafoe went down 7-6, 3-6, 1-6, 7-6 and 3-6 to the Spaniard who progressed to the final of the US Open. However, Tiafoe’s resilient effort did not go unnoticed as the American sports community came together to congratulate the 24-year-old on an incredible effort.

The latest of the American athletes to congratulate Tiafoe is Bradley Beal, the NBA professional turning out for the Washington Wizards.

The 29-year-old shooting guard was one of the many looking on as Tiafoe went down to Alcaraz in an incredible match at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York, and made it a point to come onto Twitter to congratulate Tiafoe on having played a resilient game even though it ended in a losing cause.

The tweet went viral on social media platforms as the fans appreciated Beal’s gesture to stand by the young American’s effort.

Even though it will be Carlos Alcaraz who will go up against Casper Rudd in the US Open men’s final in New York, Tiafoe can look forward to an incredible career if he indeed fulfils the promising start that he has had to his tennis career.
