Ben Simmons’ season has gone from bad to worse, and it has taken another slump after he was told to retire by fans after scoring 0 in a loss to the Detroit Pistons.

It has been a disastrous season to be Ben Simmons. The Brooklyn Nets guard began the season on the recovery bench after having a less than memorable start to his stint at Brooklyn after his move from the Philadelphia 76ers last season, and the expectations were high when he finally made his return to action. However, things have not worked out for Simmons at all.

The Australian has been a regular starter for the Nets, however, the numbers that he has put up has not been anything close to what is expected. Simmons currently averages 7.4 points, 6.5 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game despite playing an average of 27 minutes per game over 37 appearances this season, and he dropped arguably his worst performance on Thursday night.

The Brooklyn Nets welcomed the Detroit Pistons to the Barclays Center on Thursday night, and while they wanted to return to winning ways after a loss at Philadelphia – it only got worse as the visitors came out on top 130-122. While Kyrie Irving top-scored for the Nets with 40 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists – he did not receive any support from his teammates, especially Simmons.

How badly did Ben Simmons perform against the Detroit Pistons?

Ben Simmons dropped one of the worst performances by any player this season, as he racked up zero points in 20 minutes.

Simmons put on one of the worst displays by any player this season, as he failed to register himself on the scoreboard. Despite starting the game and playing 20 minutes, Simmons could not convert any of his three attempted field goals and was largely a passenger in the paint – completing only one rebound throughout the game before he went off with a knee problem.

Though he did make seven assists, it was not nearly enough to help the Nets to a win. While Simmons was on the receiving end of abuse from the Philadelphia crowd in his last game, he was subjected to more criticism by his own fans after his recent game – as fans on social media urged him to retire after such a disastrous performance.
