Austin Reaves contract: How much does the Lakers star make?

The Los Angeles Lakers’ shooting guard Austin Reaves has been a huge boost for the team in recent weeks. But how much does the Lakers star make?

Austin Reaves missed a number of games due to a hamstring injury that he picked up during a victory over the Miami Heat at the start of the year. After going undrafted in the 2021 NBA draft, Austin Reaves signed a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. This was followed by a standard two-year deal which will end at the end of the current season.

Austin Reaves will earn more than $1.5million through his salary this year

The Los Angeles Lakers Lakers have a qualifying offer that will see him play for them until the end of the season. The two-year deal saw Austin Reaves make upwards of $900k in his first year. This was followed by an increase of more than $600k which means that he will earn more than $1.56 million this year. The deal translates to an average salary of around $1.2 million at the end of which Austin Reaves will be a restricted free agent.

This means that the Lakers have an advantage if they want to re-sign him next season and much will depend on how the rest of the campaign goes. And as of now, Reaves has made a great argument for the Lakers to keep him with his performances.

Reaves has been one of the standout performers for the Lakers this season

With the team’s talisman LeBron James out of action for a dozen games or so, the 24-year-old has been a revelation over the last few weeks, increasing his production and helping the Lakers avoid a huge drop in the Western Conference standings.

Reaves’ recent surge hit a crescendo last Sunday when he scored a career-high 35 points (9-of-14 on field goals, 16-of-18 on free throws) in a 111-105 win over the Magic. He put his full arsenal of skills on display, scoring off the dribble, finding open teammates and frustrating Orlando with his foul-drawing techniques. As of now, Reaves averages 12.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game this season.
