Monta Ellis Career

Monta Ellis was the 2005, Round 2, 40th overall draft pick by the Golden State Warriors. Ellis plays in the position of Shooting guard and is the 2007 NBA Most Improved Player.

Ellis played for Golden State Warriors from 2005 to 2012. Ellis was a star player for GSW and it is often said that Ellis made the Warriors franchise popular. During his time with the Warriors, Ellis went to the NBA Playoffs one time but ultimately could not win an NBA Championship.  

On March 13, 2012, Ellis was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks. In the 2012-13 season, Ellis played all 82 games for the Milwaukee Bucks, averaging 19.2 points per game and 6.0 assists per game while playing for 37.5 minutes.

However, on July 23, 2013, Ellis signed a three-year, $25 million contract with the Dallas Mavericks. Ellis played for the Mavericks till the 2014-15 season. During his two seasons with the Mavericks, Ellis went to the NBA Playoffs both times but could not get past the first round. Subsequently, on June 24, 2015, Ellis decided not to pick up the option for the final year of his contract with the Mavericks, thus becoming a free agent.

Consequently, on July 14, 2015, Ellis signed a four-year, $44 million contract with the Indiana Pacers. However, he played for the Pacers till the 2016-17 season.

Ellis’s performance significantly dropped while playing for the Pacers and on July 6, 2017, Ellis was waived by the Pacers. Notably, he will be paid by the Pacers through the 2021-2022 season.

Currently, Ellis is a free agent and is waiting for his comeback in the NBA.
