Kodai Senga is a Japanese citizen who plays baseball in MLB for the New York Mets. On March 15, 1993, he was born in the city of Fukuoka, which is situated on the southern island of Kyushu.

When Senga was in primary school, he first picked up a baseball bat and instantly developed a passion for the sport. He attended Chikuyo Gakuen High School in Fukuoka, where he was a standout player on the baseball team. In the first round of the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) draft in 2011, he was chosen by the SoftBank Hawks to play for their team.
