The Washington Nationals have had a terrible start to their season. The way they have fallen off after winning the World Series in 2019 is truly shocking. They had a great roster back then, but the current roster isn’t capable of achieving success.

The Nationals have already lost the likes of Anthony Rendon, Trea Turner, and Max Scherzer from that championship-winning team. All of them are among the best players in their positions, and they have found success with their new teams as well.

The only elite talent that remains on their roster is Juan Soto. Many teams are interested in acquiring his services because he has been phenomenal so far in the season. He is just 23 years old, and teams who have championship aspirations this season can really benefit from him.

Trade rumors swirled around him, but the Nationals’ GM shut them all down. He said, “We are not trading Juan Soto, We have made it clear to his agent and to the player. These journalists have to fill a blank sheet of paper every day. It’s a good thing to get some attention on a story. But we have every intention of building this team around Juan Soto.”

Washington Nationals are making their best efforts to keep Juan Soto

When you have a phenomenal young talent like Juan Soto on your team, you are likely to try your best to keep a hold of him. They can once again build a roster around him to challenge for a championship like in 2019.

Nationals GM further said, “We’ve spoken to his agent many, many times (and) recently sat with him when he was in Washington, D.C. Made it clear to him that we are not interested in trading him, and I guess the rest of the world just doesn’t believe it.”

Although the sense around the organization is that Soto will stay with the team but he can refuse to sign a new contract and leave the team as a free agent if they are unable to fulfill his needs.
