Jordan Walker, who is just 20 years old added to his legend as a t on Salentaturday when he crushed two eye-popping home runs – one a towering shot estimated at 470 feet and a second rocket estimated at 115 mph – while also doubling, legging out an infield single, driving in three runs, and scoring three times.
Walker has more than lived up to the expectations of being MLB’s No. 4-ranked prospect and the St. Louis Cardinals’ No. 1 in just six Spring Training games, according to MLB Pipeline. He’s only been 9-for-18 with three home runs, three doubles, two infield singles, and six RBIs. He’s slugging at a 1.167 clip, and his OPS over a limited sample size is an astounding 1.667.
In the Cardinals’ 9-6 victory over the Nationals, Walker displayed a little bit of everything from his five-tool arsenal. Walker used his surprising speed to leg out an infield single in the first inning, batting second a day after leading off and registering two hits.
He crushed a 2-2 pitch from Cade Cavalli not only over the 388-foot mark in left-center but also deep over the grassy berm and one hop off the concession stand past the batter’s eye two innings later. The Palm Beaches Ballpark does not have ball-tracking equipment, but Cardinals personnel assessed the blast to be 470 feet.
