The Yankees’ major league spring training roster features one of the most intriguing players, and he is the team’s youngest participant. After putting together a successful season in the minor levels the previous year, outfielder Jasson Dominguez is getting a taste of his first big-league camp this month. Dominguez just turned 20 earlier this month.

Even though the fervour surrounding Dominguez may not be quite as astronomical as it was when he signed for $5.1 million as an international free agent in 2019, he still enters this season as Baseball America’s No. 67 prospect.

Dominguez played 120 games for the Yankees minor system last year, accumulating a.273 batting average, an.837 on-base plus slugging percentage, and 37 stolen bases. He concluded the season with five games at the Double-A Somerset level. The switch-hitter has a chance to begin the current season back at Double-A Somerset, which would put him in a position to contribute in The Bronx as soon as 2024 at the earliest.

The 20-year-old Domnguez is also the youngest player in the Yankees’ camp, but manager Aaron Boone says the outfielder shows maturity beyond his birth certificate. The Yankees are understandably sensitive to the pressures of unreasonable expectations. They’re not expecting him to be Bo or The Mick; The Martian can simply be himself. The club continues to believe in Domnguez’s potential, especially after watching him improve over the past few seasons.
