Is Grzegorz Krychowiak a good midfield option for Liverpool?
According to a report by The Sun, Liverpool are interested in a move for Grzegorz Krychowiak. The player recently represented Poland for the ongoing World Cup in Russia but the team crashed out during the group stages.
A midfielder by trade, the 28-year-old spent the previous season on loan with West Bromwich Albion. The Baggies endured a terrible season in the Premier League and eventually dropped down to the Championship.
In a similar fashion, Krychowiak’s form has also taken a drastic dip. The player does not lack talent, however, and he can be lethal on his day. Unfortunately for him, those days do not come too often.
Krychowiak is currently on the books of French giants Paris Saint-Germain, and Liverpool are unlikely to face any major hindrances to sign him. The Reds could utilize the added squad depth since Emre Can has moved to Juventus. That said, one cannot help but wonder if the Merseysiders truly need him.
One might argue that Jurgen Klopp could help the player rediscover his form and while that is true, Liverpool have a plethora of midfield options at hand right now. Can is primarily a defensive midfielder and in his absence, the manager still has Jordan Henderson.
Furthermore, new arrival Fabinho is also a defensive midfielder by trade. If anybody had their doubts about Henderson, his performances for England in the ongoing World Cup should pacify them.
Hence, with two quality options at hand, it does not make sense for Liverpool to sign Krychowiak. The Polish international will be a high-risk purchase, given his recent form. To be fair, he was one of the most promising midfielders in Europe at one point in time.
His performances were Sevilla were truly incredible but ever since he joined PSG in 2016, his form took a nosedive. He often looked out of depth and failed to secure a spot for himself in the starting XI.

Last season, he joined West Brom temporarily but as mentioned earlier, he failed to make much of an impact for them. To make matters worse, Krychowiak was partly responsible for Poland’s loss against Senegal in the World Cup.
The two teams were tied 1-1 but the midfielder gave away the ball to Mbaye Niang which led to Senegal’s winner. Hence, even if Liverpool do sign him, it would be a while before Krychowial returns to his best.
