Matt Riddle is one of the newest recruits to the WWE programme, to be precise, with the NXT. However, prior to signing for WWE, he made a name for himself in the MMA.

The 33-year-old has had some great matches in the NXT ring, but he wasn’t bad when doing his bit in the MMA.

In terms of MMA records, he has a total of eight wins, five of which, came by a favourable decision.

The WWE star also has three losses and two no contests from his 13 fights in his MMA career.

Prior to that, he participated in the Ultimate Fighter 7, though he wasn’t very successful.

Riddle did extremely well when he reached the UFC, and even defeated three straight opponents on his debut.

Although he was defeated by Nick Osipczak in his fourth fight, he bounced back against Greg Soto and DaMarques Johnson.

Riddle racked up losses to Sean Pierson and Lance Benoist but bounced back again with victories over Henry Martinez and Chris Clements.

Then a Matt Riddle MMA record was created when he clinched four fight wins in a row prior to his departure. Unfortunately, two were overturned and Riddle was handed a 90-day suspension after testing positive for marijuana.

Upon his return, he won back to back decision victories over John Maguire and Che Mills. However Riddle tested positive for marijuana again and was cut from the UFC this time and the fight would be changed to a No Contest.

After cracking his rib, he announced his retirement from the MMA on social media in 2013.

Wrestling career

The American has been part of the professional wrestling circuit since 2015.

He has worked in the independent Circuit, World Wrestling Network, Evolve, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, House of Glory, and Revolution Pro Wrestling.

The 33-year-old was even named as the “Rookie of the Year” in 2016 by Wrestling Observer Magazine.

On 18 August 2018, Riddle appeared on the NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV event where he was announced as WWE’s newest signing.

He would have a successful debut under a month later at an NXT Dark Show on 21 September 2018.

Riddle has had some great matches in NXT and the ‘Original Bro’ was excellent in his latest clash against another rising star, Cameron Grimes.
