Manchester United should not hesitate to sign Everton Soares from Gremio

According to the Mirror, Manchester United and Manchester City are interested in signing Gremio’s Brazilian winger Everton Soares.

The same report claims that the Brazilian is valued at around £30 million but he has a massive release clause of £53.5 million in his contract that he signed back in August this year.

The 22-year-old Brazilian has been one of the hottest young prospects in the Brazilian top flight for quite some time now. In fact, he seems to have taken his game to a new level this season, scoring 10 goals and providing 3 assists.

Soares has earned rave reviews for his hugely improved performances this season and his stocks have soared even higher after he was handed his international debut for Brazil in the friendlies against the United States and El Salvador.

A technically-gifted and tactically versatile attacking midfielder who is also capable of operating as a wide forward, Soares has that typical Brazilian essence in his style of play. Known for his mesmerizing dribbling skills and his ability to light up the scene with moments of brilliance, his end product has improved a lot over the course of the last couple of seasons.

A fleet-footed forward, Soares likes to take on the defenders with his dribbling and uses his awareness and vision to exploit the half-spaces in the final third. He is also a crisp passer of the ball and has the ability to set his teammates into free spaces with incisive through balls.

The 22-year-old is also adept at using his agility and athleticism to cut inside from the left and is adept at testing the goalkeeper with powerful shots from range.

To put things into perspective, United need more depth in their attacking options to achieve a better goalscoring record. Alexis Sanchez has shown glimpses of his brilliance but the Chilean hasn’t had the impact that Jose Mourinho would have liked.

On the other hand, Romelu Lukaku’s failure to find the net on a consistent basis this season has rendered United short of options up front. Juan Mata hasn’t been at the top of his game either and Jesse Lingard has struggled with injuries.

Anthony Martial has been the brightest spark of United’s otherwise tottering campaign so far. The Frenchman has delivered the goods in recent weeks but United need more firepower to challenge for a top-four spot this season.

And Gremio’s starlet Everton Soares is a player destined for big things in the coming days. However, United would have to fight it out with their city rivals if they want to snap him up in January or next summer. The Citizens have been making all the noise this season but United should look to have the final say in this transfer tussle.
