Manchester City Prediction: Probable XI to face West Ham

Manchester City will entertain West Ham at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday in the Premier League following the postponement of the match at the weekend due to extreme weather conditions.

The Cityzens lost 2-0 to Tottenham in their last Premier League game but Leicester City’s goalless draw with Wolves on Friday means they retained their second position. Pep Guardiola and co. will be keen to bounce back to winning ways against West Ham in midweek.

The Hammers, meanwhile, are 18th in the table and are winless in their last five league games.

Team News

Leroy Sane is believed to be closing in on a return from a serious knee injury. Raheem Sterling sustained a hamstring injury during the closing stages against Spurs and remains out for now.

Having been dismissed for two yellow cards against Spurs, Zinchenko will now serve a suspension. However, the Ukrainian will be available for the visit to Leicester City.

Manchester City Prediction: Probable XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Ederson (GK)

Ederson is City’s undisputed first-choice goalkeeper and should start against West Ham.

Kyle Walker (RB)

Walker has been a constant fixture in City’s backline since the start of the season. He’ll keep his place at right-back.

Fernandinho (CB)

The Brazilian has deputised well in defence in the absence of Laporte. He would be leading the team from the back.

Nicolas Otamendi (CB)

Otamendi has had a season filled with errors for the Cityzens. Yet, the Argentinean will partner Fernandinho in central defence.

Joao Cancelo (LB)

Cancelo has been in and out of the team in his debut season at the Etihad Stadium. However, with Zinchenko suspended and Mendy not fully fit, the Portuguese could be handed a start at left-back.

Kevin De Bruyne (RCM)

A key component in City’s ranks, the Belgian will be looking to unlock West Ham’s defence and help the team to a win. He would be an undoubted starter.

Rodri (CDM)

The Spaniard has not been up to the mark in his debut season for Man City. However, he would be hoping to take control of the game as quickly as possible on Wednesday.

Ilkay Gundogan (LCM)

Gundogan is a classy operator of the ball, capable of opening up defences with his passing ability. The German is a key cog in City’s engine room.

Bernardo Silva (LW)

Due to Sterling’s injury, Bernardo could get a start on the left flank. The fleet-footed Portuguese could cause problems to the West Ham defenders with his movement and dribbling skills.
