Tottenham are still yet to win a trophy under Mauricio Pochettino. The manager just signed a new a five-year contract which keeps him at the club until 2023. The Argentinian is going to have to bring in some silverware if he is to justify the progress made by the club.

Liverpool stunningly failed in their pursuit of French midfielder Nabil Fekir, who seemed almost destined to join the club. The Merseyside club reportedly demanded to lower his fee after medical scans showed that Fekir had a persistent knee injury. Lyon immediately announced that the French club had ended all negotiations with Liverpool and that further talks will not be held.

In the aftermath, Tottenham have reportedly swooped in to sign the player. The club have taken an interest in the Lyon captain over the last few days. It is obvious that Lyon are willing to part ways with their man, else he would never have shown up for a medical at Anfield.

Nabil Fekir has been making a name for himself all season long. The midfielder upped his level in the past season and has only gone on to become better. He has made a total of 115 appearances for the club, scoring 45 goals.

He is a brilliant left-footed midfielder, whose runs often torment defences. The midfielder made 28 appearances for Lyon in the Ligue 1 this season, scoring 18 goals and providing 8 assists. The Frenchman also has an exceptional passing ability.

He averaged 85.3% pass success rate in the Ligue 1 last season. With great creativity and vision, Fekir’s technicality is one of his best traits. He’s also got great finishing ability, which makes him deadly in front of goal. He would certainly bring a new dimension to the Spurs squad. Tottenham talisman Harry Kane would relish the prospect of working with the midfielder and would thrive off his supply.

Lyon are reportedly ready to offer their captain for £66million after the failed Liverpool move. Pochettino should certainly look to cash in on the situation. However, the coach might have to wait until the end of the World Cup, as Fekir is currently with Les Blues, who are competing in Russia. At the age of 24, Fekir still has plenty of time ahead of him to grow and mature into one of the best attacking midfielders on the planet.
