Why Liverpool signing Jadon Sancho would be absolute foolishness and a waste of money
Jadon Sancho is a man in demand. After Manchester United spent the last two months trying to bring the Englishman to Old Trafford, things have cooled down. News comes from the Independent that Liverpool have also emerged as another destination for the forward. Bayern Munich are also said to be in the running.

The 20-year-old English forward started his youth career at Watford in 2007 and played for their youth sides for 8 seasons.
In 2015, he joined Manchester City’s academy. His talents were on full show there as he was promoted to the U-18’s within two seasons. Despite being just 16, he was showing outrageous talent. It looked like he would be making the step up to the senior side sooner than later. In 22 games for the U-18s, he scored 15 goals and assisted 6.
Come 2017, Sancho decided to move abroad in search of first-team football, something that was clearly impossible at Man City given the stock of players they had at the time. The winger went on to join Borussia Dortmund.
Three years down the line, no one can say that he has made the wrong decision. He has gone from an ambitious teenager to one of the best right-wingers in the game. His stats for Dortmund are rather mind-boggling. The tricky winger has made 102 appearances for the club so far and has scored 35 goals and 45 assists (source – Transfermarkt).
Sancho has found good success for the national team too. He won the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2017 and is a part of the senior side currently.
Why Sancho to Liverpool does not make sense
While any team would be happy to have Jadon Sancho in their team given his performances over the last few years, we need to consider that the team in question is Liverpool. Boasting one of the best attacking trios in world football, there can be little argument for any player to replace one of those three.
Jadon Sancho is just 20 and starting to peak. Any move to a club where he is not a guaranteed starter is a detrimental step for him. Now, if we were to see the player he would be competing with for a starting spot is Mohamed Salah. However talented you may be, there are close to no chances of replacing the Egyptian in this Liverpool set-up.
He has been in phenomenal form for the Reds and no one can say that he can be dropped. Liverpool, on the other hand, would have to stump up a huge amount of cash, something they don’t usually do. Even if they give in and spend the money, it would be for a player who plays in the same position as Salah.

So not only is this move illogical for the player but it doesn’t make sense for the club as well. They recently bought Diogo Jota and are starting to integrate Wilson and Minamino into their squad. With so many options in the attack, it would be a rather foolish move to pursue Sancho. Not to mention, a huge waste of resources. Something they could use in a better way.
