Chelsea vs West Ham Ratings: Chelsea Player Ratings + Reaction

Chelsea cruised to a comfortable 2-0 victory against a rather strong looking West Ham United side who did give the Blues a fairly stern test in the 2nd period. Despite their best efforts though, the magical feet of Eden Hazard were too much for the Hammers defenders to deal with.

The Belgian danced his way through the heart of the West Ham defence and calmly slotted home to score what was definitely one of the goals of the season. His second of the night came late on as a beautiful curling ball from substitute Ross Barkley picked him out in the box before he smashed it hard and low into the net.

Here’s the Chelsea Player Ratings:

Kepa Arrizabalaga 7

Spent most of the game watching from afar but was good with the ball at his feet and made a couple of decent stops.

Cesar Azpilicueta 7

Had a solid game down the left flank and combined well with Callum Hudson-Odoi on the flank and created a few chances.

Antonio Rudiger 7

The German midfielder bossed the entire game and didn’t allow any of the Hammers attackers an inch of space.

David Luiz 7

A typical performance by the Brazilian, he commandeered the defence well and was adept with his distribution too.

Emerson Palmieri 8

The former Roma man had a super game down the left flank with Hazard to work with and he even made a crucial block.

N’Golo Kante 8

Excellent at tracking back and stealing the ball off unwary opponents, the Frenchman showed off his attacking qualities too.

Jorginho 7

Didn’t set the world on fire in the middle of the park and did get caught in possession on a couple of occasions.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek 7

Failed to have too much impact in the 2nd half but his quick passing plays with Hazard in the 1st period were sublime.

Callum Hudson-Odoi 7

The youngster made his 2nd start for the Blues and repaid Maurizio Sarri’s confidence with a solid display.

Gonzalo Higuain 6

Should’ve scored a goal on the night as he managed to miss what looked an absolute sitter. Needs to improve and rapidly.
