Leicester City Opinion: Why the Foxes should go for Markus Henriksen?
Hull City skipper Markus Henriksen is still unsure if he will remain at the KCOM Stadium next season.
The Tigers exercised a 12-month contract extension option in Henriksen’s contract in March in order to place them in a better position this summer. The midfielder’s previous deal was set to expire this summer and Hull were vulnerable to losing him on a free, but now they could seek a decent fee for him now that he’s likely to leave the club.
As per the Sun, Leicester City were interested in signing Henriksen during the January transfer window but the Tigers kept hold of him as they still kept hopes of reaching the play-offs. Now that Hull will again compete in the Championship, Leicester must rekindle their interest and sign Henriksen this summer.
The Foxes are obviously looking to make inroads in the first full summer transfer window under Brendan Rodgers, who guided the club to a ninth-placed finish after replacing Claude Puel in midst of the last season. The 46-year-old tactician’s arrival saw a massive improvement in the team’s performances and overall fitness levels.
The Northern Irish manager already has an exciting squad, which comprises of Ben Chilwell, James Maddison, Jamie Vardy, Harry Maguire, Wilfred Ndidi and Harvey Barnes. However, more importantly, Rodgers has started creating an identity for the club and with right players this summer, Leicester could realistically challenge for a place in Europe next term.
Markus Henriksen was one of the standout performers for Hull, helping the club finish mid-table in the Championship. Being the Tigers’ skipper, he led the team from the front and consistently delivered the goods. The Norway international has all the qualities to thrive in the Premier League and under Rodgers at the King Power Stadium.
A good passer of the ball, the 26-year-old can play in different positions across the midfield as well as operate as an emergency centre-back. He has operated in all those positions for Hull and done a solid job. One of his strengths is his ability to dictate the tempo of the game and keep things calm under pressure situations.
Henriksen’s work-rate off the ball and calmness when in possession is commendable, thus his qualities on the ball can be utilised in a better way under Rodgers. The Norwegian can also chip in with crucial goals and his leadership skills could come handy for a relatively young Leicester side.

All in all, Henriksen could be a solid alternative for Youri Tielemans, if the Foxes fail to sign the Belgian permanently from AS Monaco.
Verdict
There is every chance of Henriksen being available on a bargain deal this summer. So, it will be a situation Leicester must take advantage of.
